Autobo…Hungry HK diners assemble

You didn't think I was going to move to Hong Kong and not review some of the amazing Eateries we have here did you? Although it has admittedly taken me far too long to get around to doing this! Anyhoo- on with the review:

Transformers: The Ark

Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Yes, that's right a Transformers-themed restaurant, a convenient three minute walk from the Causeway Bay MTR station. Having only opened in April 2023 it has already left its mark in Hong Kong. So grab your Bumblebee and head on down for a burger, or some chicken.. or, well that's really about it.. but you aren't really coming here for the food- so let's get down to it:

Location and layout

As mentioned the location is very handy, right outside Causeway Bay MTR exit A The yellow beacon of the transformers glistens in the sunshine. The restaurant itself is located on two floors, with the ground floor also combining the souvenir store, not to mention the giant Optimus Prime for those perfect Instagram shots. See:

The actual dining area is set out in a futuristic yellow-and-black scheme with plenty of tables for hungry munchers. My party of four attended on an HK holiday and was able to get a table without waiting even though the restaurant itself was busy.

So overall, top marks here
FIVE NIK-KNACKS

Menu

I touched on the lack of options on the menu, but let's go over your choices.

Burgers:
Angus Burger, Angus Burger with Cheese, Seaweed Cod fillet burger, Crab meat, and Chicken burger.

Sides:
Pieces of Chicken on the bone, or crispy chicken pieces.
Fries.

Although the kid's choice offers a combo Mac & Cheese, Fries, Crispy Chicken bites, and a drink, all bought to you in your very own cardboard ark.

Of course, I should note that all the burgers come in the shape of an Optimus Prime head, which is simply delightful

Overall, The menu, whilst small offered a reasonable amount of choice--

THREE NIK-KNACKS

Price

Eeesh, well we all know Hong Kong is expensive right, 5th most expensive city in the world, but aye caramba, this place was expensive even for Hong Kong.

The standard Cheeseburger comes in at an eye-watering 95 HKD (£9.50  for my homeland)
The side dishes- the fries and the chicken was both 30HKD as was a soft drink to accompany your meal

The kid's meal, provided by far the best value at 85HKD

I'm afraid it's another THREE Nik-Knacks here.

Summary

And what of the taste? the burger itself was very pleasant, the fries, well they were fries- it's hard to get them wrong, and the chicken was perfectly nice... there was just... something missing, it was all a bit, dare I say without being attacked by Optimus?  it was all a bit bland.  The souvenir shop is excellent, with some wonderful items, however again- be sure to go on a day you are feeling extra flush.

Overall, whilst The Transformers Ark was an enjoyable experience, would I go again? Probably not, the burger was fine- but not worth the price- especially with Five Guys only 3 doors down who basically do the overpriced burger experience to perfection... Would I say not to go? I don't think so, it's well worth a one-off visit for the experience- to take some photos and see the shop, and you could always plan a visit on your way to Happy Valley Racecourse which is within walking distance too.

It's a respectable 3.5 Nik-knacks for Transformers the Ark.

Go spend your consumption voucher on a visit if you haven't been yet!
